Meet the Team

“If it’s fun, we’ll interpret it!”

E. Peige Turner

(She/Her)

Creator of NERDterpreter

Peige is a Kansas City native and raconteuse. For her, making memories and telling stories is a core value. Anything out of the ordinary sparks her interest. If it’s unique, weird, bizarre, or strange, Peige will want to know about it…as well as talk about it!

Jacob Marshall

Jake lives in the south Kansas City area with his wife Joan and 2 boxers (Tina and Toni). Primarily interpreting K-12 education, video relay service, and in community settings, he also has experience working as a social worker. He has been working with Peige for 7 years on the Nerdterpreter team.

Jennifer Patterson

Jennifer, a DPI (Deaf Parented Interpreter) from a very large Deaf family, works as a certified professional sign language interpreter.  She has 24 years experience interpreting in various settings including conference work, government work, VRS, education, medical, and freelance work, but her main focus of work lies in legal settings.

Jennifer likes to unwind by playing board games with her family and friends. She is also a Potterhead and a Disney Freak.

Daleena Ewbank

Daleena has been interpreting for 16+ years, all areas of community interpreting, VRS, concert, conference. Daleena loves to read, craft, and has a wide variety of interests.

Ellen Snowden

Ellen Snowden (she/her) hails from the St. Louis area but now calls Kansas City home. She’s interpreted for over 10 years in a variety of settings, nerd settings being the coolest, obviously.

When not interpreting, she likes playing board games, attending KC Current matches, and goofing around with her spouse and two dogs.

Claire Baker

Claire (she/her) is a newly certified freelance interpreter living in the Kansas City Metro area. She is excited to start her interpreting career and has been working with Peige since she was in her ITP program at KU Edwards. Claire is also trained as a Support Service Provider (SSP) and enjoys working with the local Deaf Blind community. When not interpreting, she enjoys hanging out with her cat, reading mystery novels, and exploring downtown Kansas City.

Yvonne Haddox

Yvonne Haddox, an intern and student interpreter based in Washington, MO, is on the path to obtaining her BEI license. Embracing a “Yes Ma’am” attitude, she discovered a passion for all things quirky and nerdy. Yvonne eagerly anticipates contributing to community access in the future.

Vann began his interpreting journey in 2014 working in post-secondary education. From there he grew in practice, gaining experience in VRS, community, and medical interpreting. Vann is currently a teacher at Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, Kansas. When he’s not teaching or interpreting, Vann enjoys running, board games, reading, and spending time with his spouse.

Chelsea Hull is a freelance interpreter who has been providing services since 2009. BEI certified, she is currently working towards obtaining the prestigious National Interpreter Certification. In addition to her interpreting work, Chelsea is actively involved as an educational advocate. As a military spouse and mother of two “Twice Exceptional” children, she has been inspired to delve deeper into the unique work done by NERDterpreter services. When not interpreting, Chelsea enjoys relaxing in a hot tub or indulging in her love for Thai cuisine.
